Introduction to DrawingTaught by Annie Denham—Drawing is where it all begins! Are you serious about drawing and want to make lots of beautiful drawings? Printmaking & Handmade Books Taught by Lauren Rose Wilder and Jamie Karolich— Learn to create handmade books and then fill them with your amazing stamped and printed images. In this class we will be learning Japanese stab binding to make our books. We will also learn basic block carving techniques using linoleum which is easier to carve than wood. Come with your ideas and get ready to carve!

Art & Science Teen/Adult Classes @ LASC DIY ScreenprintingTaught by Stephen Joseph Wiggins—Join us to learn the Do-It-Yourself method of silkscreen printmaking, a practice that anyone can learn and do in the comfort of their own home. We’ll use block out and photo emulsion methods that enables the student to print cards, gifts, t-shirts and other items DIY-style at home or in the studio.

LASC Knitting ProjectTaught by K. Crane—Join in this fun group experience to knit and create a “yarn bombing” in downtown Lexington. Yarn bombing takes the craft of knitting and transfers it to the urban streetscape. Trees, lampposts— even objects as big as buses and bridges—have been “bombed” in recent years. Beginners are welcome so if you don’t know how to knit, we’ll teach you. The location of our yarn bombing will be revealed at our first meeting. Yarn is supplied unless you have something special you would like to use. You will need to bring a pair of #10 or larger knitting needles.

We will explore the use of alternative materials in fashion design and make a total of 4 fashion accessories. Intro to Computer Music RecordingTaught by Brian Bertucci—Use computers to create and record your own music! We’ll show you everything you need to get started using loops, samples, and microphones to create original songs. We’ll explore the software to create multitrack recordings, as well as effects, and how to get professional sounding recordings. Students will gain an understanding of how songs are recorded in a studio, and leave with a CD of their original work!
